New Member Process

5 Step Process

Ephesian 2:19 – “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.”

TBC has a 5 step process to membership to make it open and easy to follow.

Step 1 – Meet with one of the pastors to discuss what membership looks like at TBC.

Step 2 – you must be or must be willing to become a baptized believer in Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:38-41).

Step 3 – Attend the TBC Membership class.  We have the class once a month and all you need to do is contact the church office to sign up at 804-744-2044 or admin@tomahawk.church.  Attending the class does not obligate you to pursue membership, as the classes are only informational.

Step 4 – Read and understand our statement of “What We Believe” to make sure you are in alignment with what we believe as a church.  We are excited to discuss any questions you may have.

Step 5 – When you become a member, you and your family will be assigned to one of our Deacons to help you and support you during your time as a member of Tomahawk Baptist Church.

Member Expectations

If we are going to continue being a health, unified, God-glorifying church, every church member shows their commitment through service.  We are asking every member to serve each other, the community we are in and the world with these expectations:

Love One Another (Hebrews 10:25 and Ephesians 4:1-3)
We are commanded as Christians to not forsake assembling together.  When the church assembles together, the primary goal is to love God and love one another.  We cannot love God’s people if we are never around God’s people.  True love will be demonstrated in our commitment to do life with one another.

Commitment to Gather and Scatter
Our goal is to gather together for worship, equipping, serving and fellowship, and then scatter to our homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, schools, etc. to honor Christ through our joyful obedience, sacrificial love and bold witness to what God is doing in your life.

Prayer (Isaiah 56:7-8)
Jesus said, “My church shall be a house of prayer for the nations.” We ask and expect our members to pray for one another.  Prayer may be the highest form of love and service to the body of Christ.

Financial Generosity
members are asked to faithfully and generously give to advance the Kingdom of God.  Members are able to give on Sundays or anytime throughout the week by clicking here.

Join a TBC Small Group
This is where we can be the church to each other and our county and city. These groups consist of about 0 to 12 people who gather weekly or bi-weekly as a TBC community for prayer, fellowship, read, talk about and answer questions about God’s word and missions, as well as a meal together.  Through TBC’s Small Groups, we join together to take the gospel to our county and city and pray for and encourage one another as we minister to the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of those in our lives.
